As previously mentioned, names can be submitted for commemoration. To submit your commemoration request, you can do so either via mail or email. If you would like to make a donation along with your commemoration request, please use one of the options below.
v
It should be noted that the monastery does not accept donations for the purpose of commemorations, because Christ taught us, Freely you have received, freely give (Matthew 10:8). However, it has always been a pious Orthodox custom to make a donation to a priest or monastery when requesting commemorations for either the Orthodox living or the Orthodox departed. Why is this? In the New Testament we read that Christ permitted a money box to be carried around wherever He and His disciples went. People made donations which were used for charitable purposes and for the everyday needs of Christ and His disciples.
v
For 2000 years, Orthodox Christians continue this tradition of making donations to priests and, in later centuries, to monasteries. Without donations, how would the priests and monasteries function? They would have to have secular jobs. If this were so, how would they have time to do their religious duties - performing the sacraments, praying for Orthodox and non-Orthodox living and departed, preaching, missionary work, ministering and/or giving alms to those in need?
