COVID-19 Prevention and Early Treatment

Based on the protocol of Dr. Vladimir Zelenko

by Dr. Michael Malouf

Michael Malouf, MD, is a family physician who practices outpatient medicine in Southern California. He also worked as a hospital physician during the COVID-19 surge that took place last December through February.

This is a short “recipe” he shares with his patients, based on the work of Dr. Vladimir Zelenko, a New York-based physician who pioneered widespread use of hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and an antibiotic for early treatment of COVID-19 illness.

COVID-19 Prevention and Early Treatment
(Based on the protocol of Dr. Vladimir Zelenko)
You want to avoid being deficient in the supplements on this list. No need to overdo it, but you cannot simply “catch up” if you are deficient and already getting sick.

We now know that COVID-19 is an inflammatory illness, not simply a respiratory disease; it affects the vascular system primarily, with its secondary effects in other organ systems (lungs, liver, kidneys, even brain), so this updated “recipe” calls for aspirin, which was not included in Dr. Zelenko’s original treatment protocol.

Daily Prevention (take every day)
Vitamin C 1000 mg/day
Vitamin D 2000-4000 units (50-100micrograms)/day
Zinc 30 mg/day or 50 mg every other day
Quercetin 500 mg/day (helps zinc work better)
Aspirin 81 mg/day if no history of bleeding issues and age 40 or over, to prevent blood clots and diminish inflammation.

If Quercetin is not in the drug store it can usually be found in health food stores and online. Amazon almost always has it.

If exposed or ill
Double up vit C, zinc, and Quercetin for at least two weeks.
Increase aspirin to 162 or even 325 mg/day for at least two weeks.

Early treatment in high-risk individuals (over 40 and/or with medical conditions, obesity, diabetes, heart or lung disease), add ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine. Will need a prescription.

Best prevention
Keep weight under control.
Get regular exercise and enough rest
Balanced diet
(In other words, do what your grandmother always told you!)
